Regan’s Advice: fall refresh

Every fall, we start getting the same kind of calls and texts from clients.
“My sofa’s lost its shape.”
“The walls could use a little touch-up.”
“Something about the house just feels… tired.”

Once the seasons shift and we start spending more time inside, we actually see our homes again: the cushions that need fluffing, the paint scuffs that somehow multiply overnight, the lighting that suddenly feels too harsh now that the sun sets at six.

The good news? You don’t need a full renovation to get things feeling good again. A few small tweaks can completely change the energy of a space.

Here are a few I always recommend this time of year:

Other Small Changes?

  • Restuff or rotate your sofa cushions so they feel full and inviting again.

  • Wipe down your walls and trim — clean paint instantly lifts a room.

  • Bring in cozy textures: a wool throw, a linen pillow, maybe even a new rug underfoot.

  • Add a few pools of warm light — soft lamps and candlelight make such a difference.

  • Bring nature inside. A branch, a bit of greenery, or a woven basket by the door adds instant warmth.

If you’re starting to think bigger — maybe you’re ready to finally rework a room or make your home feel more pulled together — that’s where we come in. My team works with clients in the Washington, D.C. area and Naples, Florida, creating spaces that are personal, layered, and built for real life.

At the end of the day, a home should feel good to come back to. Fall is the perfect time to slow down, make a few small updates, and enjoy the spaces that mean the most.
